The attached photos show a specimen I picked up in a rock shop in North Carolina many years ago. They said it was from Pennsylvania or Ohio if I remember correctly (I could be mistaken). Anybody have any thoughts on what it might be? Sorry for the glare in the phone photos. I can take more with an SLR if need be. Thanks.

Found a few specimens at the base of limestone cliffs in the local region. trying to put it together and have a couple of matches. Any help identifying would be greatly appreciated.

@philip-mahon – did you find in around there? My geologic bedrock map suggests it’s Miocene – Holocene in age but volcanic rocks rather than sedimentary so there wouldn’t be fossils really.
