this looks like it might be a crinoid calyx
-
Could this perhaps be part of a calyx of a sea lily. Compare with images.
-
Thanks

I am totally so jealous of your specimens. You seem to be able to get to some great sites. Here in South Africa it is not safe to be off fossilhunting on my own. I hunt my fossils on ebay these days and turn bright green with envy every niw and then..Enjoybyou

I believe that this could be the remains of a fossil spiral shell.
-
@lynette-luff May it be a partial ammonite?
-
I think it would have shown the septa which would also be in a spiral. This could possibly be a gastropod? Can our intern give comment. This one is a doozy!
-
Is that a vertebrae?

it looks to me like a crinoid calyx! the pet that connects the stem to the branches.
-
Calyxes seem to be rounder with knobs where the tendrils attach. It looks more like a horn coral. I’m thrown by the closed top which means it could possibly be an anenomy? Could our intern perhaps shed some more light on this.

You have a lovely collection of sea lily stem pieces.
Thank you
Really nice fossilized crinoid stems.
Thanks
