Pamela, that’s one big bone. Check Google images. I found pictures of similar structures which were labelled as the top parts of ribs. If this is true then this is a pretty big animal. Maybe something like Triceratops? A paleontologist can definitely do better thanl. Beautiful.
-
Thanks you for checking and I think that’s very accurate. It’s obviously an extremely large mammal and it was found in the same area as my other dinosaur fossil finds! Certainly feel a certain type of way holding it😁🦴🦖

Is that a Triceratops horn? Wow I can but dream.
-
I was never able to get confirmation but that was our group consensus! It was just amazing to hold😁🦖 @lynette-luff
-
WOW! WHAT AN AMAZING FIND, if you found that in the little Valley you were standing in that that means the actual skull might be nearby!
-
late to respond, but that is a very nice piece and without a doubt bone

That’s awesome, what state are you in?
-
Not a state. It’s In Canada, Province Alberta. Dinosaur Provincial Park is the name. 😊@edwin-green
-
Oooh beautiful. This is going on my bucket list. I would like to walk there one day.
-
When that happens, please send a message. I’m a couple hours away and would gladly tour you😊 @lynette-luff
-
Me too!
-
Do you get to keep your finds? In the state’s archeologists would snatch that away from us right now!
-
@sherry-hacker Nope! I wish!!! Signs posted said up to 100,000$ fine🥹 But awesome to see and hike!!

I would love to come and hike there one day. I only have experience with South African fossils most of them in my town at the school where I taught for 38 years. I always say that if you get bitten by the rockbug you are ill, very ill. However getting fossil fever is terminal. 😆
-
Teachers are so important, so thank you 😊🙏 I’m a herbalist, and I literally look for nice rocks instead of buying souvenirs, but nothing tops a good fossil find! You definitely speak my language🦴🤣and would be fun to hike with!! @lynette-luff
