3 years, 8 months ago3 years, 8 months ago@smoran, I don’t think anyone knows the geology of these. I think the formation is not even named yet, but I’m not sure. This really is all the information the internet is willing to give me.

Hey @thijs-verbeke can you narrow down the location to a nearby city? Also, I think the Yixian Formation is part of the Jehol Group.
-
@vperez, I could narrow it down to Huangbangi Valley, Beipiao, but that is from research on the internet, and not information that Came with the Fossil. It’s indeed Jehol group, don’t know what happened there. Thanks for pointing out.

Hi @thijs-verbeke, do you happen to know the nearest town to where this was found? Also, I think the taxonomy has been updated on this species to Edmontia longiceps. https://paleobiodb.org/classic/basicTaxonInfo?taxon_no=63920
-
@vperez, the ID was confirmed by the Dinosaur expert on the fossilforum. For now I stick with it.
-
The ID is the same, the name has just been updated.
-
@vperez, it could very Well be, but it’s a bit the same like in the Kem Kem beds, where some say all Spinosaurid Teeth are Spinosaurus, while others (including me) believe there are at least two different genera. I’ll update it to Edmontia, but I’ll add it in the notes that it was originally Identified as Denversaurus.

Nanotyrannus and juvenile T-Rex teeth are very similar. Nanotyrannus teeth (other than anteriors) have a rectangular shape when viewed from the bottom, T-Rex are more oval. The enamel and dentine combination on T-Rex are thicker than Nano (again viewed from the bottom). With these teeth a bottom view is necessary.
-
@bill-heim, excuse me. I must have missed this comment. I added a picture of the base. Not easy but if it’s not a good one let me know and I’ll add another one.
-
Looks like a juvenile T-Rex. Seems to have thick enamel and oval shape. However, I want to say that I am not positive on the ID.
-
@bill-heim, I’ll add this tooth as cf. Tyrannosaurus rex? Does that sound as an acceptable ID?
-
Works for me. Tyrannosaur teeth from almost any species are almost impossible to tell apart.

Could you take better photos of this specimen @thijs-verbeke so we can better confirm the ID?
-
@smoran, What more Angles do you need to confirm it. It’s a Mosasaur tooth with intensive feeding wear.
-
@thijs-verbeke the one photo is just a little blurry. Because we only have the photos to confirm the occurrence data for these specimens, we just need photos that absolutely confirm the ID in the associated data. Thanks!
-
@smoran, are the new ones better? If not let me know so I can add some more.
-
Those should work. Thanks @thijs-verbeke!

Hi @thijs-verbeke, I’m not seeing any identifiable features on this one to assign it Desmostylus. @gsantos any thoughts on this one?
-
@vperez, you could very Well be right. I know next to nothing about mammals. More of a reptile Guy. I trusted the ID given. Any ideas What the most precise ID would be?
