Evripidis Papaevripidis has contributed specimen mFeM 132247 to myFOSSIL!

    • you can very gently pick the top layer with a fine pin or needle to expose the rest of the body. for preservation I was told to use a mix of white glue and water by the guys who run a fish quarry, but the more knowledgeable @mason-hintermeister said that can yellow with time. I know the museum group I’ve worked with uses paleobond in the field to stabilize, it might hold up better over time

    • @evripidis-papaevripidis I agree with @corinne-daycross, I would avoid using white glue and water if you can get your hands on paleobond, butvar, paraloid or any other acetone-dissolving plastic. Though, in all honesty, with a fossil like this as long as you aren’t touching/rubbing the surface too often, I wouldn’t be too worried about it degrading (provided it is kept inside)

    • By the way, I’ve added some info and marked this research grade!
