Though very worn it looks like you may have a rib. There looks to be other pieces of bone surrounding your find. Awesome.

Really? I never would have imagined. There are some other, I guess rib bones, near this one. Could it be relatively recent or is there no way of knowing by a photo?

I believe those are proper fossils. If you touch these fossils they will probably feel cold. Even though they are stone, you are able to see the texture of the bone. It would be difficult to collect the fossil in “one” piece. Maybe a jacket of plaster of Paris could keep it together. I would like to advise leaving it in situ is you are not well practiced in taking out fossils.

I’m going to leave them as is. I don’t have experience removing anything from the ground that isn’t just laying around. There is a new neighborhood on the way and I am afraid things like this will be lost. Can or should I notify anyone?
