    My glass fossil.

    • Hi, @heath-carroll – I’m still not seeing a resemblance to trilobites. You can certainly find trilobites in Iowa but I’m not sure what this is.

    • I have changed my opinion on that now I’m back to I don’t know. I have the same creature in concretion that I am chipping away at the outer layer on it and so far it has a lot of body armor and pincher claws. It somewhat resembles a crawdad I will post picks when complete.

    • Hi, @heath-carroll I’ll be happy to check out your other specimen but I stand by this one not being a fossil.

    • When lightning hits sand it sometimes melts some of it and makes a glassy substance – or a tube shape with partially melted sand around the outside. I think they are called fulgerites. This might be what you have. There might, of course, be inclusions.

    • #catherine-Carr thank you for the info I had not thought of that it does have a lot of particles inside of the glass but is about impossible to get on a photo. Same with my specimen I am getting the concretion off of. The pictures do not show what’s there very well.
