What’s inside of this rock? I found it in a creek bed. I’m new to this but stoked to learn!
There are some scale like features to that streak in the middle. It washed out a bit in the pic.
Anyone?
Might the outer material provide additional clues? What does the other side look like? Please provide a measurement or measuring device next to it. I thought it might have been some soft-bodied creature, but then I thought the outer material might be a turtle shell, with that curving imprint evidence of aome sort of spine. I look forward to identification by a knowledgeable person!
