different angles would be good
Hi @mackenzie-smith, @antony-avrithis posted this potential plant material. Any ideas?
Hi @antony-avrithis and @smoran ! This is very likely a fruit in Juglandaceae (the walnut family). It is also very likely, more specifically, this belongs to Juglans bergomensis because of the outside sculpture. This species grew in coastal areas and all around the Northern Hemisphere and is related to the modern butternuts. The only way to confirm the species would be to section or CT scan it. But I feel confident putting it in that family. (That species is a part of that family.)
Ok , thank you 😊😊😊
Once you update the taxonomy to the family Juglandaceae and change the coordinates to decimal degrees, we can mark this as research grade!
Ok I fix in a minute
Hi @antony-avrithis! Sorry, I should have given you the full break down. Some older reference material has names of different hierarchies mismatched so it can get confusing (especially since sometimes they get cited in recent literature). Here is what the taxonomic breakdown would be for this specimen – Kingdom: Plantae, Phylum: Magnoliophyta, Class: Magnoliopsida, Order: Fagales, Family: Juglandaceae. Thanks, and once again, great find!
Ok , I fix it , thank you !
