FOSSIL UPLOAD
First, make sure you have a myFOSSIL account, this is required to upload your fossil information. If you are interested in seeing if your fossil can be used for research purposes, please follow through the following steps. They walk you through the information needed and why it is helpful for other scientists to use it for research questions. Even if the information you have on your fossil is not enough to be used for research purposes it will still benefit the community through educational means and help others identify their fossils. Specimens that have sufficient information will be uploaded to iDigBio and GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) for public accessibility.

@bill-heim the striations appear to continue into the root on the third picture, would this indicate a Scapanorhynchus sp.?
I assume this came from Purse as well. Scapanorhynchus is strictly from the Cretaceous. Purse is strictly Paleocene. This would be Striatolamia if it had serrations. I don’t see any due to severe wear. What you are seeing are small cracks. See:…[Read more]
@bill-heim this one definitely was a Holden Beach find. I kept it separate from the others because it was my all time favorite find as a child before I had ever gone to Purse (or anywhere else)
You need to keep in mind that different places have different ages and vastly different species. Holden Beach and Purse are a some dozens of millions of years apart.
