FOSSIL UPLOAD
First, make sure you have a myFOSSIL account, this is required to upload your fossil information. If you are interested in seeing if your fossil can be used for research purposes, please follow through the following steps. They walk you through the information needed and why it is helpful for other scientists to use it for research questions. Even if the information you have on your fossil is not enough to be used for research purposes it will still benefit the community through educational means and help others identify their fossils. Specimens that have sufficient information will be uploaded to iDigBio and GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) for public accessibility.
If you have already gone through the stepwise process that explains each piece of data please click through to a summary tab where you can enter in your specimen data on a single page.
Data Quality Information Page
Hi, @david-hanes – found nice images on the Neogene Atlas: https://neogeneatlas.net/species/arca-wagneriana/
Would you be able to post another image of the interior of the shell? This specimen can be marked as research grade and the data can be shared with iDigBio!
Let me know if you have any questions,
Jen
Jennifer….This is a high quality specimen. I can post another interior image with a scale bar. Why is the image upload/update feature so slow to complete tonight?
Jennifer….I will try later tonight to upload aperture photos for the gastropoda and the arca interior.
We implemented a new upload process for the images – I wonder if that was slowing it. I can test it out today. I had an issue where the image uploaded but didn’t notify me so I accidentally uploaded ~10 of the same image.
Jennifer, I would like to know if my upload attempts on 8/8/19 and 8/9/19 were successful, but the specimen record was not updated. Who at UFl could get this info?
Jennifer, I added new images to several specimens this evening. The upload process just started to work again, and I don’t know what changed.
Excellent. Max had been working on something and I think accidentally caused a bug and then he went back in to resolve it. Lee Cone is still experiencing some issues but I’m glad to hear yours were resolved!!!
