2 years ago2 years agoI’m sure it’s valid, just not for the Devonian trilobites in the eastern U.S. Niles Eldridge, the paleontologist who the genus is named for wasn’t too keen on the honor, but there it is. You can still use ‘Phacopid’ for an unidentified trilobite in that group.

Thanks @alan-goldstein ! Does you mean that “Phacops” isn’t a valid taxa anymore? First, the whole Brontosaurus vs. Apatosaurus thing, and now this. 😀

2 years ago2 years agoOval rugose corals indicative of Emsian age because that form doesn’t continue in the Eifelian (Middle Devonian) according to William A. Oliver, Jr’s research.
