@jaqui-zehr I wouldn’t break it. you can see that the interesting part is a coating around something harder in the middle. Middle rock doesn’t look interesting, and you’d likely destroy the piece.

Sorry @jaqui-zehr this looks like a piece of limestone. Bone would show some porosity. However, the object on the right looks like it could be a crinoid stem and is a fossil.
