Hi @jim-barkley. Could you add Phanerozoic Eon, Mesozoic Era, Cretaceous Period, Late Cretaceous Epoch to this specimen? And do you know the nearest town to where this was collected? Thanks!
-
Mack, Colorado, is the nearest town, but it is probably 25 or 30 miles away.
-
This is another example where we could use slightly more precise location data before marking as research grade. Either GPS coordinates or something like “25 miles north-northwest (I’m just making up the direction here) of Mack, CO” in the field notes should suffice. Thanks!

Beautiful specimen @jim-barkley! Any chance you know the nearest town to where this was collected?

-
Certainly big county out there @jim-barkley! Is there any way you could use Google Maps to get GPS coordinates that more closely relate to the location? I’m just trying to think of ways to more accurately record location so that we can mark this as research grade. Thanks!
-
Hi @jim-barkley. Just wanted to clarify the location so we can ensure it’s accurate before marking this as research grade. It looks to me , based on the location of Antelope Springs, that the site would be 69 miles north, not west, of Delta. Is that correct?
-

@mackenzie-smith and @indah-huegele any ideas on this one?
-
@vperez This was one I was working on last night/this morning. Still going through families.
-
Anonaceae, Winteraceae, Meliosma, Styloceras and Altingia is my running list so far.
-
Ericales also possible.
-
Ilex and Oleaceae. I’ll try to narrow it down from there.
-
Any update on this ID @mackenzie-smith?
-
@smoran and @jim-barkley I don’t know for sure but I’m ruling it down to Ericales. This is an order level ID. It includes plants like blueberries, kiwis, tea and Symplocos.
-
@smoran and @jim-barkley My reason for doing this was overall shape and some of the other hypothesized plants had extra loops before the margin.
