Greetings @mel-addison ! Your specimen could be a fossil fish, perhaps from the Green River Formation. But, I can’t be sure.
-

1 year, 11 months ago1 year, 11 months agoDoes any one know what kind of rocks are these cuz I never seen a green rock by a river will like a small river
-
Do they write on paper? If so then it’s graphite, which is used in pencils
-
No they dont
-
I had found them at a construction sight but is was a abandoned one so me and my friends went there and we found a lot and we also found a lot by like a river
-
I had a fossil but then my dog had ate it so I had got mad and now I don’t have one any more
-
So I have to go back and dig
-
1:your dog ate a rock 2:you’ll get the fossil back in a few days . 3:I’m not sure what these are, they’re like a mineral of some kind. You can research and compare the properties of your minerals to others and find a match
-
Ok
-
I found it it does not say the name but it say I can sell it up from $80-280
-
Is it light? It looked like fossilized coal
-
Could it be rough green jasper?
-
Yea it is light
-
My guess would be coal
-
I have plenty of it from the beach, a mine, near river beds sometimes too
-
Yea
-
This looks a lot like slag—a by-product of smelting. Perhaps it’s a waste material from the construction site.
-
Ok but there is a river by the constant site so it was a realy small one and the river was green
-
Industrial slag is often dumped into nearby rivers and lakes. In some cases it can alter the chemistry of (or even contaminate) the water and sediments with various microscopic metals
-
Ok
-
Its mineral, maybe malachite you can Google raw green minerals and come up with quite a few results that would probably help you out I would have to have more pictures larger images my eyes are horrible
-
Ok
-
Elise is correct it could be slag
-
Ok

maybe fragments of knapped flint. However, man made objects are not fossils
