I grew up collecting Devonian fossils in Western New York. I attended college in Cleveland, graduate school in Cambridge, MA, and worked as a technician at the USGS in Reston, VA; I had a post-doc in Kiel, Germany and took a job at a university in Shizuoka, Japan. In 1997 moved to the Paleontological Research Institution in Ithaca, NY, where I again collect (or help others collect) Devonian fossils.
