@Mackenzie-Smith – this almost looks planty? however, I suspect it is a coral, perhaps growing around a crinoid stem (the star indent) which would make sense coming from Lake Michigan! Very cool!
Thank you. There seem to be quite a few horn coral and crinoids but occasionally one can find a unique piece. Especially now that Lake Michigan is so high and eroding places that haven’t seen daylight in years. Thank you for your help.
@robin-loggains and @samantha-ocon Personally, I’m leaning towards septarian nodule with the original matrix eroded out but it’s a tricky one.
Oh! Good point – the only thing I’m noticing is the tiny little star at the bottom
