7 years, 6 months ago7 years, 6 months ago@joyce-drakeford, you bring up a very valid point — it isn’t just professional women in paleontology who experience barriers and discrimination.
I would be interested to learn how amateur/avocational paleontologists have overcome gender-based barriers to their collecting, study, and exposure to paleontology. Thoughts, @spassmore, @cindy-lockner,…[Read more]

Lisa Lundgren replied to the topic First 3D print! in the forum 3D Fossils 7 years, 8 months ago
7 years, 8 months ago7 years, 8 months ago@julie-niederkorn The print took about four hours. I brought it to the campus library and the 3D print specialist helped me upload it into their system because I’m not familiar with STL files. I paid for it (about $6), then waited for their email saying it was done. It took 20 minutes to take the pieces off their rafts, remove the little rafts…[Read more]

Apparently there’s a bunch of fossil pokemon in the Florida Museum of Natural History, but I haven’t been over to check yet. @comalley had a great suggestion about building off of Pokemon Go’s success and trying to do something like it with fossils. Got any ideas??

It is good to hear that you have enjoyed the Aurora Fossil Festival and let me tell you that I really like the “test your observation skills” boxes. How many people would you say visited your table? Were people interested in a particular aspect (i.e. 3D fossils) or was there general interest?
