6 years, 1 month ago6 years, 1 month agoI didn’t plan ahead and didn’t buy the special glasses for looking at the eclipse. I went fossil collecting that day and knew I shouldn’t look up so I looked down. This is what the gravel parking lot near Greens Mill Run, NC looked like at the time of the eclipse.

6 years, 1 month ago6 years, 1 month agoThank you for the information on the nurse shark teeth at the Belgrade Quarry. I would like to label the nurse shark teeth that I have collected at the quarry, do you think all of these are Ginglymostoma?

6 years, 2 months ago6 years, 2 months agoHi Jeanette. The 3D scans are amazing! You have done a terrific job with them. It is very exciting to see the technology in action. I was able to view most of them on my IPad, the rhino wouldn’t load properly so I will try it on my home computer to see if I can get it to work. Super cool!
Thank you!-
These scans *are* amazing, @jeanette-pirlo and @julie-niederkorn! Where did you get the colorized thumbnail images? Those are pretty!
-
The thumbnails are professional photographs that @smoran took for posterity. They came out AMAZING!

6 years, 3 months ago6 years, 3 months agoThanks everyone, I have never collected trilobite fossils before and really appreciate your help. I was wondering if the pygidium is a Thaleops ovata? The cephalon sure looks like the ceraurine-Ceraurus.
<post bump> Any ideas, @jeff-nolder, @asa-kaplan, @jkallmeyer?
