5 years, 5 months ago5 years, 5 months agoAlmost all my fossils are in pretty rough shape, like this ammonite. But I still love the aesthetic of a worn fossil. You can barely tell the ammonite’s shape and there are scant few details of the shell, but I feel like it still has an interesting story to tell. #fossil

These tough elements can be found on the anterior portion of the fins and are usually unsegmented. Spines have been used for various reasons, but mainly for protection against predators.
