5 years, 1 month ago5 years, 1 month agoLooks like a piece of bone indeed. Might be modern (do the flame test to make sure it’s fossil). I don’t think there’s much more you can tell about it, but it seems to have some really cool bite marks on it!

5 years, 2 months ago5 years, 2 months agoYup, bull/dusky for the two other ones, but the one lacking a root looks to me like it could be a broad-tooth white, Carcharodon hastalis (previously known as the giant mako Isurus hastalis). A bit hard to tell because it’s so worn, but that’s where I’d put my money on

5 years, 2 months ago5 years, 2 months agoYou should bring it to a museum, if it is indeed a dolphin skull it might need to have an expert take a good look at it!

5 years, 2 months ago5 years, 2 months agoOk, this is nothing more than a guess, but I have a hunch that it could MAYBE be this: an Ephemeropsis trisetalis mayfly nymph from the Sihetun area (Liaoning, China), and from the Yixian Formation of the early Cretaceous. Remember that it could very well be something else!

5 years, 2 months ago5 years, 2 months ago@lori-baltunis from what I know, the “lion’s paw” name refers to shells from the Lyropecten genus. However the shell in your photo looks much more like some type of oyster to me 🤔
