6 years, 2 months ago6 years, 2 months agoFrom Betty and Diane, regarding working as a docent when school groups visit Powell:
Hello,
I talked with several VP students today who are interested in the docent program, including Michelle who I copied on this email. Isaac and Michael also are interested, but I don’t have their email addresses to give you. They will talk about the docent p…[Read more] -

6 years, 2 months ago6 years, 2 months agoShould we discuss the iDigBio ADBC summit in one of our next meetings? I realize only Sean and I are funded on iDigBio, but it will held at UF/FLMNH and it appears that many of the summit events are related to VP, including collections tours, a fossil hunting field trip, and national fossil day.
-
Yes we need to discuss this because we are holding events at National Fossil Day and will need volunteers like during Can You Dig It? If I remember correctly Michelle, both you and @vperez will be manning the table on Saturday during NFD?
-
Yup, I intend to be there. In previous years, vert and invert paleo have tabled together. I need to check if they’re doing their own thing or collaborating with us again. So we may have some volunteers from IP as well.
-
Just talked to Roger. Sounds like IP will have their own tables, so ideally we would have at least 4 people from vert paleo willing to volunteer. I think they want to have the sandbox dig as well, so the setup will likely be the same or similar to Can You Dig it? I know we aren’t having a lab meeting tomorrow because Bruce is out of town, but if…[Read more]

Yes, I’ve talked to Roger and we’ve discussed how to get enough volunteers from VP, IVP, and Paleobotany. I’m aware that we’ll have both the dig box and the screen wash and will be pulling fossils for the activities in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for checking with Roger as well.

6 years, 5 months ago6 years, 5 months agoI will also be connecting remotely on the 12th. That means at least three members of the meeting will be skyping in (myself, @bmacfadden, @cgrant). Would it be easier/possible to use an Adobe Connect room for our lab meeting next week?

6 years, 8 months ago6 years, 8 months agoHi guys! I thought you guys might find this article by Andrew Farke of the Alf Paleo Museum a useful, quick read. It’s called “Learning to Write My Science” and it includes a link to a free pdf of a really great 2009 paper on how to use stratigraphic terminology in papers, illustrations, and talks.

Hi Michelle, I’m the web developer for myFOSSIL. I’m resolving a bug that caused attached images posted to groups to not appear in the groups activity feed. I know it’s been some time since this was posted, but if this image was meant to be posted in a group please let me know and I can fix it.
