3 years, 7 months ago3 years, 7 months agoThat is a trilobite pygidium (the last segment of the exoskeleton). Not unusual to find segments as trilobites were thought to molt as they outgrew their exoskeletons. Nice find!

3 years, 8 months ago3 years, 8 months agoBrachiopods. A brachiopod shell shows symmetry (equal left and right parts). A bivalve shell cannot be cut in identical left and right parts. Bivalve symmetry is between shells (the hinge). Usually the “beak” in a bivalve curves to one side.
