Definitely not silicone or fungus so please someone who is intelligient enough to not be simple minded let me know what I discovered

    • Why is it in water and not silicone or fungus? Is it soft?

    • @bill-heim idk tbh it was shriveling up so I put it in water to try and preserve it . I don’t know much but I know I have a gift of finding weird shit these past few months . What should I do to preserve it is it bad that I put it in water? I just didn’t wNt the specimen to get completely ruined I probably am ruining it more but once I put it in water it started to unshrivel but it is deteriorating what should I put it in

    • I’ve found bone material that was like wet tissue paper but if you put that in water, it would just disintegrate. Whatever it is, it is not a fossil but something that is modern.

    • Dead salamander? Tiny bit seahorse looks…

    • @bill-heim any clue of what could be ? And I’m in Norfolk va anywhere I can take it to be tested cause i looked high and dry online for anything similar but nothing at all just sea horse but no sea horse I could find online was like this? Plus I found it in the dirt not even where water was and also the only thing that I found that slightly looks like this is a “mythical” wyrm dragon which is depicted a lot scarier and not this tiny so I want to know where can I take it in the Norfolk 757 area and also should I just keep it water or in vinegar because idk I just do the finding also i will post new pics where to me but I could be tripping, looks like it’s double headed like two heads on each side but I might be wrong I’ll post the pics .

    • I wish I could help you much but it is not a fossil but some kind of modern organic material. For easy to obtain preservatives I would suggest rubbing alcohol, definitely not vinegar which is an acid. I would take it to a museum or a wildlife sanctuary or zoo.

    • It looks like a mud puppy, which is a larger fully-aquatic salamander, that lives in freshwater lakes, ponds and rivers. We have them here in Canada and they are frequently caught (accidentally) while ice fishing. I’m not sure if they are native to your area but it looks quite similar to your specimen.
