4 years, 10 months ago4 years, 10 months agoMy brother in law found this in Chino Hills State Park, CA and asked what it was. It’s hard to tell the specific rock type and formation it might have came from but there are marine rocks in the region, maybe quartzite. There seems to be a halo of carbon like material, maybe graphite around the structures rim. I am not 100% convinced this is a fossil, but if it is, maybe a gastropod? #fossil #collectionsite #fossil #collectionsite
I don’t know too much about the geology of the area. Maybe a cephalopod? The Eastern Pacific has several curved cephalopods.
@patrick-cummings-2 and @mackenzie-Smith I’m not sure that is a fossil. It looks more like mineral cleavage planes to me.
Wormey!
