Hi!  I picked this blackish rock(?) in a sunflower field in central South Dakota.  I also picked up 1 other black rock (2) specimen on this same field which I will post in a separate post.  It is heavy for its size and has a crusty grainy texture to it.  Not magnetic (dang!).  I can attempt more pictures if requested — the light wasn’t great here today.  Anyway I hope someone out there might be able to help identify this!

    Thank you all,

    Gail

Didn’t realize how bad some of the pictures I first submitted would look.  Here are a few other shots.

Hey @vperez @jeanette-pirlo @smoran @imagallanes @michael-ziegler @michelle-barboza, can someone take a look at these photos and shed any light on the fossil vs. rock question? If you know of someone who might be better at identifying them, please tag. Thank you!

Hi @gail-tennant! Sorry it took us a while to get back to you. Unfortunately, I think it’s a rock rather than a fossil.
