6 years, 8 months ago6 years, 8 months ago@jbauer You didn’t even notice my brachs!
-
I appreciated them quietly! I’m trying not to lose my street cred as an echinoderm worker 0_o
-
Ha, ha, ha. That’s funny. I just added an inarticulate for you to admire in silence… I intend to add an edrio once I figure out the taxonomy.
-
Jen, I forgot to mention that the Leptaena photo was cropped. Out of the picture to the left was a single Cheirocystis plate. That may have gotten your attention had I left it in the posted photo.
-
Very adorable inarticulate brach! We don’t get the variety around here that you find in the Cincinnatian. I think I have only found Pseudolingula here, I prefer the encrusting ones.

6 years, 8 months ago6 years, 8 months agoThese blastoid plates are very interesting. First, you can clearly see the hydrospires (respiratory structures) on the larger radial plate. Additionally, there is a layer of secondary calcite secreted on the interior of the plates created a ‘puffy’ appearance. You can clearly see the boundary between the body plate and the additional layer of…[Read more]

This sounds really awesome, @gsantos! You know the FOSSIL Project is always excited to promote Women in Paleontology events 🙂 Can you reveal who the original Princess of Paleontology is? Is it Mary Anning?
-
It might just be the one and only Mary Anning! 😀 We’ll know more once we make sure she can safely get to our TARDIS. . .
-
Hold up @gsantos, the Alf has a TARDIS?! I’m so jealous! Please post some pictures here (Women in Paleo forum would probably be best) so we can share in this awesomeness! 😀

7 years, 6 months ago7 years, 6 months agoHi, all! I’m a graduate student working on blastoids. I’m going to try to upload some images of fossils I’ve found over the past few years with a focus on blastozoan echinoderms. I’ve put up my first fossil, Pentremites tulipaformis! Quite the strange beauty, with odd spine/secondary accretion/spike at the distal end of each ambulacra. It appears…[Read more]
