@lynette-luff Is this considered Research Grade specimen?

To me almost all specimens have information to give.

What size are these teeth?
-
The first tooth top left may best match Bull shark teeth. The second shark tooth seems to match pictures of Megalodon. The third tooth could also be a bullshark. You can check on images from Google images.

Then unless the tooth I identified as Megalofon is juvenile, Im not sure of the identification any more.

This seems to be a well worn nodule of some kind. Sometimes if you cut it break them open you may find a small fossil in there. One of my nodules has a beautiful set of rings right through the nodule.
-
Thanks for the thoughts!! I reversed image searched and it seems like it might he a hamburger sea bean.. which is a seed from an amazon plant. Apparently not a fossil at all.
-
Now that is one interesting find. I have a box of things that are not fossils but sometimes they do look like it. I use it to teach differences. I hope you keep it. Im going to look it up immediately.
-
I looked the bean up and learnt quite about them. Thank you.

A beautiful tabulate coral
-
You may want to look further under Cnidaria.
-
Are you sure that’s not modern?
-
No, I’m not sure if this is modern or not. I’m not an expert and try to do my research. That is why I joined this site. I’ve always loved fossil hunting in Texas where I grew up. There are so many ancient coral heads that start in the water’s edge and continue up into my in-laws back yard. Various kinds of corals are imbedded in those rocks.…[Read more]

you can absolutely put an age in them. go to macrostrat.org and choose geologic map. Search up the town and play around. It’ll do a pretty good job of getting you the right data, you’ll just have to check the deposition environments to make sure the match what you find. These fossils are gorgeous

It’s tabulata alright

Antonia Yurei posted an image in the group Beach Fossils from the myFOSSIL app 2 months, 3 weeks ago
2 months, 3 weeks ago2 months, 3 weeks agoI found this at a beach in Ireland. It’s about 2-3cm long and has a tiny hole at the tip. I’m guess it’s some kind of tooth, no idea of its from a mammal or what animal it could be from. It’s hollow and definitely got bone tissue on the inside. Anyone have an idea?
-
Orthoceras maybe?
-
It does not resemble Orthoceras. The shell shows connected chambers with thin walls. The hole at the top makes me think this probably an artifact. It seems it has probably been smoothed or polished. Tooth enamel is very distinct and does not present like this. Would love to know the result of further research. You have an intriguing specimen

Your reference churt did not yield results. Chert showed multiple forms also called flint.
-
I only found one image with slight matches to your specimen.
-
I know there is something called brain coral fossil. wonder if it is that. chert is a fine grain sedimentary rock often fills shell to make fossil. I think I have that right.

@jerry-gray definitely a coral, hard to say whether it is a fossil or not without knowing the geological history of the island (having trouble fining an adequate geologic map) and a better knowledge of corals than I have
-
@mason-hintermeister Sorry still learning how to use this app, and my pics may be scattered and not in the same group. The fossil was found on a rocky beach dominated by large ancient coral heads in central Philippines. I used to collect fossils as a kid in Texas, USA and knew more then than I know now at 70. I get into research and adding fossil…[Read more]
