Dear Maggie, you would say not a Belemnite?

Your last photo does show specimens. I’m wondering if they are perhaps oyster or worn bivalves? They do not look like ammonites.

I checked again. I think you should look at comparable photos of oysters and perhaps also some clamshells. Please do let us know what you have found out.

I believe I reach an impasse. Is it possible that they are Foraminiferans, like Nummulites or Sponges in this case Actinostroma?

The second photo has a bone of some sort at the bottom of the image, could be a limb bone of something, but I’m not completely sure

Photo 1, Looks like some nautiloid and possibly a Turritella. 2.Lovely piece of branching coral. 3. Turritella, a possible bivalve on the right. 4. Perhaps compare to Bryozoans. This is a very tightly packed fossil. 5. Compare to pictures of branching bryozoans. A really grand collection.

You have a beautiful ammonite. Dont cut away. There may be other specimens hidden in the matrix.

Looks like a type of Mackerel Shark

I do believe this could be a fossil of a sea-sponge.

This is indeed an oyster, though it has some damage from boring critters. Unfortunately, with a partial shell it is unlikely I will be able to get you a good ID for it beyond the oyster family (Ostreidae)

This seems to be a well worn nodule of some kind. Sometimes if you cut it break them open you may find a small fossil in there. One of my nodules has a beautiful set of rings right through the nodule.

Thanks for the thoughts!! I reversed image searched and it seems like it might he a hamburger sea bean.. which is a seed from an amazon plant. Apparently not a fossil at all.

Now that is one interesting find. I have a box of things that are not fossils but sometimes they do look like it. I use it to teach differences. I hope you keep it. Im going to look it up immediately.

you can absolutely put an age in them. go to macrostrat.org and choose geologic map. Search up the town and play around. It’ll do a pretty good job of getting you the right data, you’ll just have to check the deposition environments to make sure the match what you find. These fossils are gorgeous

Must say this is unusual. Closest match I could find was Pachyphyllum.

Not a nautilus. You might want to research further into Pleurotomaria. It is certainly a big specimen.
