5 days, 23 hours ago5 days, 23 hours agoI am pretty sure that I commented on one of your photos but now can not find it, my app hasn’t been working right. This is going to be some sort quartz/chert rock. If you look at it with a handles can you see grains? They may look like circles but they could also look like blobs. If you do then it is a really cool quartzite!

5 days, 23 hours ago5 days, 23 hours agoThe shape tells me it was some sort of brachiopod or bivalve but the patterned holes seem to be chamber wall within the shell similar to coral have… I am not sure but very interesting! It has defiantly been broken at an awkward cross sectional view but that’s what makes it really cool!

5 days, 23 hours ago5 days, 23 hours agoOkay, everyone needs to simmer down. First off people on a free app should not have the power to insult your self worth, it is up to you what you read and you have to remember that a lot of context is left out when all we have to work with are just comments. There are people on this platform who are amateurs, there are people (like myself) that…[Read more]

6 days ago6 days agoSorry for the late response, school and work. It can be a killer! It could be a vast number of things but if it were quartz it would be able to scratch a piece of glass. I am not sure what you mean by real/fake, as if natural or lab grown?

2 weeks, 1 day ago2 weeks, 1 day agoThese are burrows! They are called fucoidal because they were originally thought the be kelp. There is debate on whether they were formed by trilobites or by poorly preserved worms. Here’s a link about them in Utah: https://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WMFQ7F_Fucoidal_Quartzite_Logan_Canyon_Utah

1 month, 1 week ago1 month, 1 week ago@a-trilobite Haha! Thanks I’m glad I could clear it up for you! Quartz is the mineral of MANY names. Not only can it hold trace elements but also water so there is a whole slide bar sort of scale of what to call it if it is this percentage of water. For example chalcedony has a decent bit of water which makes it not as hard as quartz but opal h…[Read more]
