Well if this was from the east coast I would say you have a piece of Native American pottery. I have no clue of artifacts from the west coast . But it’s the same pattern of pottery I have found on the east side. Great find!

Look up Toad Stones from medieval times. The were thought to be able to protect the holder from poisoning. It a mouth plate from a fish that would crush shell fish for the food.

It’s hard to tell without dimensions. Or where it was found. But from the picture it looks like a whale ear bone.

Hi there! Can you give us a little context of where this comes from or if you know the age? This helps in the identification process. Right now I’m thinking either a tooth, stem or chert that is a pseudofossil (rock that looks like a fossil).

@jbauer She did. I hadn’t scrolled down to that post yet so I didn’t see it and the locality information until after I had posted.

Several shot from other angles would be helpful – and perhaps a really clear closeup of this.

The left tooth is an upper Great White (Charcharodon carcharias) tooth. It has a thin root and irregular serrations.

The right one looks like a lower tooth. Its probably a Carcharodon hastalis. Its an extinct type of white shark.
