4 years, 9 months ago4 years, 9 months agoA little late in posting here, but I just got back from the KU NHM’s traveling Pop-Up Paleo mobile museum trip across western Kansas. Here is a picture of UGA affiliated folks who attended NAPC 2019!Thanks to Kris Kusnerik for the photo!@kristopher-kusnerik, @sally-walker

Great shot!

@egardner I must admit to being disappointed when they were calling for group photos from various colleges such as this one from UGA. My school wasn’t called! I suppose that it is possible that I was the only one there to have graduated from General Motors Institute (now Kettering Institute).
-
Haha! True, @jkallmeyer. I imagine that very few graduates of General Motors / Kettering Institute have achieved the same level of Cincinnati Arch fossil expert knowledge that you have!

5 years, 7 months ago5 years, 7 months agoForgot to take pictures, but had a blast sharing information about Kansas’ ancient ocean life with 400+ fifth graders at the 2018 Douglas County Water Festival on Sept 28. We were the only organization at the Festival talking about fossils, and our station was super popular. We brought out the mobile museum, too, and tried a few new activities 😊 L…[Read more]

5 years, 11 months ago5 years, 11 months agoSounds like tough work, @timothy-carroll! I’m not familiar with the Gull River Formation. What is its age and what is it known for, fossil wise?

6 years ago6 years agoHi, @matthias-beckham! Thanks for posting in the “What Is It?” forum. Maybe @smoran, @dserratos, or @walter-stein might be able to help you get an ID on this fossil.

6 years ago6 years agoThanks for sharing, @evan-walsh. I wonder if you’ve gotten connected with @walter-stein or @jason-schein? I know that they both frequently take groups out for digs, and that many of the specimens go to research institutions.

Sounds super fascinating! Though I’m glad I don’t need to develop a relationship with bugs to keep parasites away 🙂
