No, it is from north of Rifle. Douglas Pass is a wonderful collecting locality for similar specimens, however. 🙂

Is it a dinosaur? no. A bird? No. It’s flying reptile. Also, if pterosaurs had Proto-feathers, or feather like structures, where do these structures actually begin to appear in the fossil record?

This is Thalassodendron auricula-leporis, a seagrass from 40 million years ago. This genus no longer lives in Florida but today is eaten by dougons in the Indian Ocean and West Pacific. #event

Family, genus, species? Easily recognizable by the spicules (star shapes) but I never really learned much more! #fossil
